Programming

Dear Future Programming Student...

"Programming is not something to take lightly...takes a lot of dedication and note taking.  Although [the teacher] does supply you with the information you need to know to get the projects done, you should always try to think one step ahead... [the teacher] is even willing to go over things with you if you need the help... make sure you know your logic. If you dont, this class is not for you. You should be able to organize your thoughts and be able to use them correctly...this class is mainly for those who want to learn programming and not for those who just want an easy grade."

"...whatever grade you're in, this is a difficult class. If you have a lot of logic you're pretty set for this class, and if you know your math then you're good to go. Just be careful that you pay attention and follow directions."

"I would not recommend this class for lazy bums such as myself but for hardworking kids that like to have a challenge, this class is for you. [The teacher] will guide you through the steps and help you find your mistakes. If you think this class is hard just give it a little time and you will like it."

"If you choose to take this course, be prepared to work. Making a program isnt easy you have to think of all outcomes and learn the computer language. Its awesome after it takes you forever to create a program and it works. If I were you, make sure you pay attention in the beginning of the course. If you dont then you will be lost."

"Computer Programming is very challenging and difficult; it takes a lot of time, effort and dedication to be successful in this class (just because there is no homework that doesnt mean it is so easy). Code is the major priority in this class and if there is a tiny mistake the program will not work. [The teacher] gives you points for pretty accurate code. For upperclassmen the class is still challenging. If a day is missed all programs must be finished. This class must be treated not as an elective, but a as a test to see your ability to do your best in a class that expects much discipline from you."

"If you like computers, take this class, you will learn how programs are made and used. If you are not a computer person like myself, think about your decision to join this class."

"...think again. Dont get me wrong, this class is fun cause you could program programs like BlackJack but its not easy. If you take this class you have to be dedicated. You have to take notes and you have to pay attention. You cannot (I know from experience) doze off in class and play games...tests are hard and the programs are not easy."

"...and I think its a totally different language. It is not English, so if you are willing to take a class that speaks so-called CODE, then go ahead and take the class."

"...an extremely difficult class. One little typo can mess up your entire program and when you find the error you often feel stupid. But, when you do succeed you will feel like you beat the system."

"To tell you a little about this class I would have to tell you that its pretty boring. Some of the stuff she shows us is cool if it works..."

"This class is very cool and fun for the first couple of months. After that it...takes a lot of logic to be in. You must be able to understand logic well or have a good IQ. It is also necessary to pay attention or you will get lost fast...it may be frustrating because the smallest mistake in code will mess up your whole program [the teacher gives credit for partial work] but I did learn a lot about computer programming and how programs work."

Its up to you! Make an informed decision.
